can i report this to the authorities
we’d rather die than do it your way. with our backs to the wall, the darkness will fall, we never quite thought we could lose it all. (+)
dean + blue
what no I’m not objectifying you’re objectifying omg
I’ll never chase a man but if he has tattoos and a beard I might power walk.
i am working very hard to ignore the dark undercurrent in this whole episode that dean has an alcohol problem but HONESTLY it’s like right there this is his wish ‘verse where everything in his life is as he wants it to be in other words it’s dean’s idea of ~perfect
but in this perfect life he’s an alcoholic, he’s a sleazeball, he’s the kind of low-life who would steal from his own mother (according to sam). in other words he’s a parasite to each of his loved ones, all more successful and more respectable than himself.
like this wish verse is built on two things: someone dean loved didn’t die, and something awful that happened didn’t happen at all. so, mary’s alive and everybody gets to grow up nice and normal and safe. but dean’s still retained all of his bad habits, his vices, that were products of growing up a hunter. he learned to steal out of necessity from john. he drinks because his father drank because his father had shitty coping mechanisms. he plays the ladykiller because that’s an expression of the kind of masculinity that would be valued in the hunting culture.
but in the wish verse, none of that was necessary. none of that happened.
so dean thinks all these faults and vices and shortcomings are his own and not shit he picked up along the way. he thinks he’s inherently a bad person, not that he’s a person who does bad things to survive the environment he’s been forced to grow up in.
They ask, “Where?”
You answer, “I don’t know.
All I know is that it hurts.
It hurts, it hurts, it hurts.”
